We’ve all done it:
- a lap on the yellow V8 to impress a cute girl, even though we’ve already done the cool down;
- maxing out in the weight room to appease our ego when we should be doing grinds;
- a couple tries on the project to look legit at the crag, even though today is for mileage…
It is so tempting to make compromises merely to impress others, often complete strangers.
The thing is, they don’t care.
And if they do, what is the value of their fleeting admiration?
Show up and do the work, then do it again tomorrow. When your ego rears up, tell it to stop letting other people decide who you become.
