Progress vs. project

If you’ve been training your ass off, improving your bouldering in the gym, and you still can’t do the technical crux on your project, it’s possible to beat yourself up, burn yourself out and say, “The training didn’t work.”

Or,

You could realize it’s hard to practice technical climbing in the bouldering gym. You could either train more on real boulders, or find a less technical route to climb.

But don’t beat yourself up just because your progress doesn’t match your project.
