I recently asked my friend Will what advice he would have for himself at the beginning of the four-year-long siege that would lead to him climbing the hardest route of his life.
He didn’t have much of an answer except for the following sentence:
“You can’t skip learning.”
The struggles, the self-doubt, the emotional lows—they are all connected to the learning process.
I still believe that we can save ourselves a lot of time and effort by listening and learning from others. That’s why I write this blog, and it’s why I make a podcast.
But Will’s point is valid and worth noting.
Shortcut the hard parts, and the lessons don’t sink in as deeply.
