I recently asked my friend Will what advice he would have for himself at the beginning of the four-year-long siege that would lead to him climbing the hardest route of his life.
He didn’t have much of an answer except for the following sentence:
“You can’t skip learning.”
The struggles, the self-doubt, the emotional lows—they are all connected to the learning process.
I still believe that we can save ourselves a lot of time and effort by listening and learning from others. That’s why I write this blog, and it’s why I make a podcast.
But Will’s point is valid and worth noting.
Shortcut the hard parts, and the lessons don’t sink in as deeply.
You can hear more of Will’s insights from our conversation in episode 9 of the podcast, here.
