Normal.
We think of this word as fixed—a reliable reference point no matter who we are or where we go.
But it isn’t.
Normal is relative.
It depends on who is looking.
And it depends on what they’ve experienced.
And it often changes over time and across different cultures.
It is worth noting that normal isn’t always healthy, respectful, or wise.
But when we remain mindful and open to how different we might be from another person, we are more likely to learn, and a lot less likely to judge others unfairly.
