Bring everything you might need

I love the simplicity of climbing.

But when it comes to getting the most out of your climbing day, it sucks to end your session early because you forgot a headlamp, extra water, or a warm jacket.

A few of the things I’ve forgotten lately (when I should have known better):

  • Headlamp
  • Extra LED lights (for a night session)
  • Spare batteries
  • Puffy jacket
  • Warm layers
  • Shorts (for the warm days)
  • Extra chalk
  • Skincare kit
  • Second pair of climbing shoes with toe rubber on top (for toe hooks, bicycles, etc.)
  • Kneebar pad
  • Guidebook
  • Extra food
  • Extra water
  • Enough crash pads to try your project safely
  • A stick brush

Sometimes we get caught in a freak hail storm we didn’t anticipate.

More often though, we can anticipate what we might need, show up prepared, and be ready to capitalize on those perfect twilight conditions (or whatever it might be).
